The department of Computer Engineering was established in 2001 to cater to the growing demands of technically sound professionals in Computer Technology. This program is accredited by National Board of Accreditation with effect from the Academic Year 2012-13. Initially, it started with just 30 seats in the first academic year. However, in the following year of 2002-03, the intake was doubled, and it increased to 60 seats. The Intake was increased to 120 in 2011-12. After a decade, in 2021-22, the intake increased its to 180. Apart from undergraduate courses, the ME programs began in 2012-13, with an initial intake of 18 students. In 2015-16, the Ph.D. programs began with the initial intake of 10 students. The department has qualified eminent faculty with the state of an art infrastructure to facilitate efficient teaching learning process. The department is headed by Dr. (Mrs.) Meera Narvekar. Currently, there are 24 faculty members in computer department. The department has eight well equipped computer labs with latest computer systems, licensed software & open-source software. All classrooms & labs are well-resourced with amenities such as OHP, LCD projector, internet facility, scanner and printers. The department has consistently achieved 100% results in academics with university toppers. Also, 100% placement of final year students is done in national & multinational companies like Microsoft, Google, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Cap Gemini, Accenture, E&Y, TCS and more.

Computer Engineering branch at DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering is the most coveted branch in Mumbai and Western zone. It is the base of all allied computer related branches. It is a core branch for students interested in pursuing engineering degree in Computers. Specializations, such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Machine Learning, Embedded Systems need fundamental and sound knowledge of Computer Engineering. A computer engineer graduating from this department will be equipped with this fundamental knowledge and thereafter can choose a career in any of the specializations; he/she is interested in. The syllabus is framed such that the student is aware of the technologies required for the specializations to a certain extent. Students who love programming and designing or have a creative mind with a good understanding of coding can get into this branch and fit in very easily. Students with Computer Engineering degree have prospects all around the world. Students interested in Placements have a good scope of getting a job in good renowned companies. Students, who wish to opt for higher studies also have a very good chance of getting admissions for master's in computer engineering in IIT, IISCs as well as universities in UK/US/Canada/etc. or pursue MBA in IIMs, Harvard etc.
