Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering started the Bachelor’s program in Mechanical Engineering and the Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering (with specialization in Manufacturing Systems Engineering) in the year 2011 with an intake of 60 seats and 18 seats respectively. The intake of the Bachelor's program was increased to 120 in the very next year. In the year 2013, the college started the Doctorate program in Mechanical Engineering with an intake of 10 seats. 

This program is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation with effect from the Academic Year 2018-19.

The department features state-of-the-art infrastructure including well-developed laboratories for core courses like Fluid Mechanics & Machinery, Industrial Fluid Power, Automobile Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, etc. It also features a full-fledged workshop that can hone the students’ knowledge and provide hands-on skills related to manufacturing. The department, with the help of the college management, is continuously striving to develop the technical as well as professional skills of its students by exposing them to industry culture through industrial visits, expert lectures, and seminars.

These student chapters provide a platform for students to develop their technical, management & organization capabilities by organizing and managing workshops and by participating in various national and international competitions.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To prepare students with a sound engineering knowledge and a multi-disciplinary approach.
  2. To enable students, to innovate, design and develop engineering systems using modern engineering practices and tools.
  3. To motivate students, to interact with industry and professional bodies and participate in various professional activities.
  4. To develop logical approach, analytical thinking and problem solving capabilities in students & facilitate them to undertake research/project work.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSO)

  1. Students will acquire analytical and application skills, specifically in areas of mechanical design, thermal engineering and manufacturing systems.
  2. Students will be able to explore various methodologies & software and select appropriate process to bring about improvements.
  3. Students will acquire soft skills, value education and competency in pursing higher studies and finally lead a professional career while working in a global environment.
  4. Students will be exposed to green technology and develop inter-disciplinary skills in mechanical systems.

The Advisory Panel of the Department of Mechanical Engineering plays a key role in facilitating the highest standards of quality in education. The Panel comprises of academicians from prestigious institutions as well as members from industry, alumni and faculty of the department. The Panel meets every semester to evaluate the overall teaching learning process and the attainment of various performance indicators. It suggests improvements in academic plans and recommends standard practices/systems for the attainment of PEOs. The Panel guides the department with respect to the latest requirements of the industry and suggests ways to bridge the industry/ curriculum gap. It proposes necessary action plan for the overall skill development of the students.

Laboratories are an essential part of the engineering curriculum. They provide students with the freedom to experiment, research and develop logical conclusions. The Department therefore maintains state of the art laboratories that are well equipped with latest equipments. These laboratories are fully air-conditioned with sufficient natural light and a proper record of operating manuals and student journals are maintained for the smooth conduct of practicals of various subjects. The laboratories are also equipped with computers, printers, scanners, internet and intranet facilities to facilitate the overall teaching learning process.

The Department library plays a distinctive role in the Department's academic and research activities. The Library maintains an excellent collection of books with titles on a variety of topics, such as Automobile engineering, Engineering drawing, Theory of machines, Quality management, Materials, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, Measurement processes, etc.

Departmental Library

Aspiring to mould competent engineers of tomorrow, Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering, Mumbai, backed by SVKM have always motivated students to exhibit proficiency by achieving accolades in national and international competitions.

 

There are 9 diligent teams of students from the Mechanical and Production Engineering departments under the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) collegiate club that encourage competitiveness in automotive engineering.

 

By creating a competitive ambience exclusively suited for the development of the students, and not only offering opportunities, but inspiring them to push their limits, DJSCE has carved a niche for itself. Under the guidance of the Principal Dr. Hari Vasudevan, Head of the department Dr. K. N. Vijaya Kumar, SAE Faculty advisor Dr. Meeta Gandhi, SAE co-ordinator Prof. Rajnarayan Yadav and other faculty members, the future engineers of the institute are set to make a difference to the society.

  • Participated in Electric Solar Vehicle Championship (ISIE-ESVC2016-17) scheduled from 28th March to 2nd April 2017 at Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh which is Asia’s biggest solar vehicle design and manufacturing event.

-Secured 22nd position overall among 86 teams from all over India,

  • An inter-collegiate project competition “DJ Nirmiti- Igniting Manufacturing Renaissance” was organized on 21st -22nd March, 2017, by ISME student chapter, wherein undergraduate students have showcase their project work and other technical skills.

  • Seminar-cum-Project Competition "Expanding Horizons in Manufacturing Sector" organized by Production & Mechanical Department jointly with ISME on 16th and 17th March, 2015

 

  • Participated in ‘Robocon India 2015’ held by MIT, Pune from 3rd March to 7th March. The Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon) is an Asian Oceanian College robot competition in which a robot or a set of robots are given a task to complete within a given time frame. The theme for year 2015 was “ROBOMINTON: BADMINTON ROBO-GAME”.

 

  • Participated in BAJA Student India – National Level Off-road Racing Competition conducted by SAE India in collaboration with TATA Motors in January 2015.

 

  • DJS Skylark Team represented college on an international level by participating in the SAE Aero Design East competition which was held at Lakeland, Florida from 13th March to 15th March 2015 and it stood 17th worldwide and 2nd in India.

 

  • Participated in Formula Student Germany an International Race Car Design Competition conducted by SAE International in July – August 2014 at Hockenheimring, Germany.

 

Theoretical knowledge is not enough for a successful professional career. With an aim to go beyond academics, industrial visits are organised by the department to provide students with a practical perspective of the workplace. Such visits expose students to real-world environments and bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical experience. They provide students with first-hand experience and play an important role in the holistic development of students.

DJ NIRMIT-E

DJ NIRMITI is an annual tech-fest of the college organised every year in association with the ISME student chapter. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the tech-fest was online from the 25th of March to the 30th of March, 2021. Brief details of the events that were held during the tech-fest are as follows:

 

B-PLAN: The theme for the event was AI, ML, and Industry 4.0. In B-Plan, participants were given problem statements and were expected to come up with solutions supported by market research. They then had to pitch the idea to potential investors or customers.

 

BULL RUN: This event was based on the Dalal Street Investment Journal. The winners were declared based on the maximum principal amount left and the return-on-investment percentage.

 

CAD CHALLENGE: This year’s theme for Cad Challenge was ‘flexible furniture’. In the elimination round, participants were given a drawing that they had to replicate using CAD software. In the second round, students were expected to develop and conceptualise ideas for smart furniture.

 

TREASURE HUNT: This year’s Treasure Hunt event was held virtually through Google forms and consisted of 2 rounds. Each participant was provided with clues. Participants had to solve the clue to get the next clue and proceed further. This event saw a participation of about 120 students increased the competitive factor.

 

QUIZ: This event challenged the general knowledge of participants. The winners were declared based on the time taken and the total number of points accumulated.

Workshops

Experts from various industries and organisations are regularly invited to the college campus to conduct workshops for our students. A brief list of workshops organised is as follows:

 

Academic year 2019-20

 

  • A two day workshop on ”Electric Vehicles” was organised by SAE from 23rd to 24th January 2020. The workshop was conducted by Mr Rakesh Sharma, Ex-Design Engineer, Indian Navy. The workshop covered different aspects of the steering and suspension system, traction concepts and braking, controllers, sensors and battery technology.
  • An AVR ATMEGA 32 workshop was organised by RAS in October 2019. The workshop was systematically designed so that the students could understand the basics of AVR Atmega32 board well, successfully program its various peripherals and special features.
  • Team DJS Skylark organised a 4 days Aero-modelling workshop in the month of September, 2019. The main agenda of the workshop was to provide elementary knowledge of an aircraft, right from its outer structure to its internal electronics. Hands on experience on SolidWorks and XFLR was provided to participating students. Each participating team successfully fabricated a RC aircraft towards the end.

 

Academic year 2018-19

 

  • ISME organized a workshop on “Rapid Prototyping Tool – 3D Printing” on 13th February 2019 for the students to learn, understand and observe the Process of Additive Manufacturing & 3-D scanning. The workshop was conducted in the college premises by Mr. Guruprasad Rao, CEO, Imaginarium.
  • Skill enhancement Programme 2 - the second edition of internship fair, was conducted from December 19, 2018 onwards. It was 10-14 day certified training programme in manufacturing units in an around Mumbai.
  • Team DJS Skylark organised a 4 days Aero modelling workshop for the First-year students of the college in the month of October, 2018.
  • SAE organised The International Design Challenge at the college level which was hosted by CADD CENTRE. This was conducted on the 9th October, 2018.
  • Student teams of SAE participated in the International Exhibition for New Innovation, at CIDCO Exhibition Centre on 27th & 29th September, 2018. Team DJS Karting bagged with the second prize in the Innovation Panel for outstanding work.
  • A 2 day Workshop on CNC Machining at LTIT, Mahape and Machining and Fabrication at L&T Madh training campus was conducted on 22nd and 24th September, 2018.
  • Teams DJS Karting & DJS Phoenix organised an Arduino workshop for 2 days in the month of September, 2018.

 

Academic year 2017-18

 

  • A two-day workshop on 13th and 14th October 2017 on basics of Mechatronics and awareness on Six Sigma at the L&T Madh training campus was orgainsed by ISME. The workshops were conducted by industry experts who shared their knowledge and experience with participating students.

 

Academic year 2016-17

 

  • One-day workshop on “3D Printing” was conducted in behalf of ISME student chapter by M/s Imaginarium, Mumbai on 11thFebruary 2017. It was a total hands on experience on design and printing in 3D Printing, which is an important tool in Rapid Prototyping Technology.
  • The students of the mechanical and production engineering department were taken on a two-day workshop to L&T Corporate Technology & Engineering Academy, Madh on 22-23rd October 2016, organized by the ISME student chapter.
  • A three-day work shop was conducted on behalf of RAS student chapter on the topic PLC Scada (industrial automation) on 13th, 14th and 20th of Aug 2016 by Prolific PVT LTD.

 

Academic year 2015-16

 

  • Two-day workshop on “Rapid Prototyping Tool-3D Printing” was conducted at our college by M/s Imaginarium, Mumbai on 16th and 17th March 2016.
  • A workshop named ‘Car Rally for the Blind’ was conducted on 24th January, 2016. The tagline of the rally was You Drive-We Navigate wherein the main purpose was the welfare of the visually impaired and education for the under-privileged children.

 

Academic year 2014-15

 

  • 3D Printing Workshop by 3D-Ware on 27th and 28th February 2015. The workshop was an interactive session between the highly knowledgeable 3D-Ware professionals and the undergraduate students from Mechanical and Production departments. It was concluded by hands on experience session with the 3D printers which helped students to learn the technique of 3D printing.
  • Workshop on assembly and working of Refrigerators by M/s Himalaya Cool Services on 9th February 2015. The Workshop was conducted by industry professionals with more than 15 years of experience. It included live demonstration of the assembly and working of a domestic refrigerator. The speakers also showed the working of an industry-level compressor assembly.
  • Workshop on assembly and disassembly of air-conditioner on 9th August 2014.

Various guest lectures are organized by the department throughout the year where the experts from the industries and other organizations guide the young talent.

  • A webinar was organised on 04th October 2021 by DJSCE SAE chapter. The speaker, Mrs. Shobhana Narasimhan (Professor of Theoretical Sciences, JNCASR-Bengaluru) stressed on the need for research and discussed ways to write a research article effectively.
  • A webinar on “Emerging Advancements in Automotive Technology” was organised on 07th August 2021 by DJSCE SAE chapter. The speaker, Mr. Balaji B. (Technical Consultant, retired General manager - Ashok Leylands Ltd.) spoke about various emerging technologies that promise to revolutionise the automobile industry.
  • Additive manufacturing (AM) is transforming how products are designed, produced, and serviced. But knowledge of the fundamental principles of AM, its applications, and its business implications is one of the main barriers to its rapid adoption. DJSCE SAE chapter, therefore, organised a webinar on “Additive Manufacturing” on 31st July 2021. Prof. Ranjeet Kumar Bhagchandani (Assistant Professor, Vellore Institute of Technology) was the speaker for the event.
  • A webinar on “Introduction to ISHRAE and Job Opportunities in HVAC” was held online on 01st July 2021 by DJSCE ISHRAE student chapter. The webinar provided students with an opportunity to interact with the guests, Mr. Vivek Marde (IMC Student Chair), Mr. Parth Thakkar (IMC Student Chair 2020), and Mr. Shamir Talkar (DJSCE Alumni).

 

Academic year 2020-21

 

  • A webinar on “Basics of Machine Learning and Deep Learning” was organised on 15th June 2021 by DJSCE SAE chapter. The speaker, Mr. Vinayaka Ram Gururajan (Data scientist - TCS) explained the concepts of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. He also discussed about latest tools and technologies, that can help deliver breakthrough results.
  • a webinar on “Opportunities in the World of Energy” was organised on 12th June 2021 by DJSCE SAE chapter. Mr. Shailendra Gokhale (an expert with more than 25 years of experience in the Energy Sector) was the speaker for the event.
  • A podcast series consisting of 9 episodes was launched to enable students to listen on the go!  These episodes were led by eminent personalities and our alumni students.

  • A webinar on “Data Analytics in Smart Factory” was organised on 04th July 2020 by DJSCE SAE chapter. The speaker, Mr. Srinivas Tangudu (Director Data Intelligence Solutions, Altair) focussed on key concepts related to identifying hidden indicators for future downtimes or anomalies in manufacturing assets.

  • A seminar on “The Geometry of Mechanism” was organised on 03rd March 2020 by DJSCE SAE chapter. The speaker, Mr. Ujwal Rane (M.S. Computer Aided Geometric Design, ASU) explained how various engineering problems can be solved using geometrical approach leading to simpler and more reliable solutions.
  • A guest Lecture on “Trends and Advances in Manufacturing” was organised on 24th February 2020 by DJSCE ISME chapter. The speaker, Dr. Amit Jariwala (Professor-Georgia Tech. USA) highlighted the various aspects of evolution of Manufacturing with a special emphasis on Industry 4.0.
  • A guest Lecture on “Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing)” was organised on 08th February 2020 by DJSCE ISME chapter. The speaker, Mr. Dhirendra Mishra (Asst. Professor, MPSTME) highlighted the various aspects of Additive Manufacturing and emphasized on the practical aspects of 3 D printing and manufacturing.
  • A seminar & live demonstration on “AI enabled robots and home automation” was organised on 7th February 2020. The seminar was led by Ashish Patil (CEO Cluebots), and focussed on artificial intelligence and its various applications in robotics, automation and in the field of data science. This was followed by a live demonstration of home automation systems.
  • A seminar on “Jet Propulsion Engines” was organised on 04th February 2020 by DJSCE SAE chapter. The speaker, Mr F. A. Shaikh (Assistant general manager - Technical Services, Air-India) explained the different technologies behind Jet Propulsion Engines.
  • A guest Lecture on ‘Energy efficiency and sustainable Energy’ was organised on 19th August 2019 by DJSCE ISHRAE chapter. Dr Roshini Easow was the speaker for the lecture.

  • An invited talk was organized for students by SAE. The speaker was Mr. Viraj Bakshi, works at Tesla Inc. The talk was conducted on 16th February,2019.

 

  • DJSCE ISHRAE organized a seminar on the topic “HVAC technology products and environmental effects” on 9th February 2019.

 

  • An invited talk was organized on the topic of Data Science and Machine Learning for students of all departments by RAS Committee on 01st February 2019 it was conducted by Bhavik Gandhi who is currently the Director of Data Science and Analytics at shaadi.com.

 

  • The students of DJSCE were delighted to witness the presence of Dr. Rohan Shirwaiker an Associate Professor in the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and an Associate faculty of the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at North Carolina State University. On the basis of his vast source of knowledge and experience he took a session on 3D- Bioprinting of Tissues: The Confluence of Biomedicine and Manufacturing on 25th October 2018.

 

  • Guest lecture was organised by ISME on 8th October, 2018 on “Manufacturing Plastic furniture using mould” by Sougata Datta , Quality Assurance & Process Engineering Head , Nilkamal Private Ltd.

 

  • A seminar on "What as an Engineer, I can do?", by Mr. Rajesh Gangar, Chairman, Allways Creative Pvt. Ltd was organized by DJSCE ISHRAE on 8th October 2018.  The speaker described his journey from being a diploma graduate from Bhagubhai Polytechnic to being an MIT Sloan School of Management graduate, from being an Engineer to being an Entrepreneur and stepping into different businesses.

 

  • Guest lecture was organised by ISME on 5th October, 2018.First, Jitendra Shah sir who is a partner with Deloitte. He talked about the "Exponential technologies in manufacturing, Transforming the future of manufacturing Engineers. The topic being highly related to the students attending, his lecture was very informative for all students.Secondly, Dr. S Greep who is the director of the Khadi Gram Udyog. The product "Khadi being historically rich in India and very important to most rural people. Sir spoke to us about how livelihood of rural people can be increased by the industry and what are the needs and future expectations.

  • Product Design and Management (Technical Lecture Series) by L & T personnel on 29th and 30th January 2015. This lecture series was conducted for undergraduate students from three branches of engineering, namely mechanical, production and electronics. The lectures are helpful to students as it introduced them to the concept of designing and managing a product by explaining the measures that need to be taken before and after designing the parts. It also provided the students with a chance to get hands on experience with specialized L&T products.

 

  • An invited talk on ‘Made in India from an Idea to Reality’ by Dr B Ravi Professor IIT Bombay on 23rd September 2014 emphasized the use of E Foundry and ORTHOCAD.

 

  • An invited talk on ‘Total Quality Management” by Mr K B Bharati (Director, QCFI India) focussed on improvement of quality and implementation of Total Quality Management Concepts in Indian Manufacturing Industry.

  • The department along with the ISME student chapter, organised a two-day workshop on PLC & Fabrication on 30th September and 1st October 2019 at M/s L&T Madh training campus. The workshop was led by Mr. Firdosh Mistry (Chief of Training, L&T C-TEA Division, Madh).
  • The department along with the SAE student chapter, organised a forty-hour training program on ‘MATLAB applications in Mechanical Engineering’ during September 2019. Dr. Suhas Deshmukh, Director, IoT Mechatronics Pvt. Ltd., was the trainer for the program.

 

Academic year 2018-19

 

  • The department along with the RAS student chapter, organized a two-day VAP on ‘STM32 microcontroller’ on 20th October 2018 and 10th November 2018. The VAP was conducted by Mr. Shreyas Shah, alumni.
  • The department along with the SAE student chapter, organised a twenty-four-hour training program on ‘MATLAB applications in Mechanical Engineering’ during September 2018. Dr. Suhas Deshmukh, Director, IoT Mechatronics Pvt. Ltd., was the trainer for the program.

ICIMA

‘International Conference on Intelligent Manufacturing and Automation’ is a series of conferences organized by the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Production Engineering, jointly with Indian Society of Manufacturing Engineers (ISME), to foster research in the field of advances in Intelligent Manufacturing and Automation. These conferences are expected to bring in eminent personalities from various areas of manufacturing and automation on a common platform, where they brain-storm on various aspects in manufacturing for the purpose of holistic knowledge sharing. Topics related to Modern Manufacturing in unmanned factories and the domain of Artificial Intelligence as applied to advances in Manufacturing are expected to be covered during these conferences. Industry 4.0 and Smart Maintenance as well as rise of Quality 4.0 are also expected to be included in the conference deliberations. The exposure and the interactions during the conference are expected to open up many research areas for Research Scholars in this area as well.

The first edition of the conference, ICIMA 2018, was held on 20th and 21st July 2018. About 109 research articles were submitted for the conference. After a thorough review process comprising of 23 eminent academicians and industrialists, 66 papers were finally accepted to be presented at the conference. 

The second edition of the conference, ICIMA 2020, was held on 27th and 28th March 2020. About 181 research articles were submitted for the conference. After a thorough review process comprising of 28 eminent academicians and industrialists, 82 papers were finally accepted to be presented at the conference.

Patents

A design is defined under Section 2(d) of the Designs Act 2001, as features of a shape, pattern, configuration, composition or ornament of lines or colours that are applied to any article that is two dimensional, three dimensional, or both by an industrial process or any means whether mechanical, manual or chemical, separated or combined, which in the finished article are judged solely by the eye; but is not taken into account upon the principle of construction or anything which is in substance a mere mechanical device. Registration and protection of designs in India are regulated by the Designs Act, 2000, and the Design Rules that were enacted in 2001.

Overview

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organises various co-curricular activities in line with its vision of creating competent Mechanical Engineers, capable of facing global challenges. The Department motivates students to participate in various national and international competitions and exhibit their proficiency. By creating a competitive ambiance exclusively suited for their development, the department inspires students to push their limits. Various student chapters of SAE, ISME, ISHRAE and RAS regularly organises seminars, workshops, and guest lectures to motivate students to go beyond the university curriculum and to create awareness about the trending developments in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Following is a brief description of the various student chapters in the department.

 

SAE

SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers)

 

SAE International, initially established as the Society of Automotive Engineers, is a U.S.-based, globally active professional association and standards developing organization for engineering professionals in various industries. It was founded in the year 1905. Its mission is to advance mobility knowledge and solutions for the benefit of humanity. Principal emphasis is placed on transport industries such as automotive, aerospace, and commercial vehicles. 

SAE International is a global association of more than 128,000 engineers and related technical experts from the transport vehicle industries. SAE Foundation, the charitable arm of SAE International, actively supports many programs, including A World In Motion and the Collegiate Design Series.

SAEINDIA is a strategic alliance partner of SAE International and is registered in India as an Indian non-profit engineering and scientific society dedicated to the advancement of the mobility industry in India. 

The SAE D. J. Sanghvi Collegiate Club comes under the Western Section of SAE India.

 

Purpose:

 

The purpose of the SAE D. J. Sanghvi Collegiate Club is to connect the students of our college with the SAE Organisation through SAE Membership. It organises various seminars, workshops, invited talks, and value-added programs for the students of the college so that they remain updated with the latest industrial developments in the fields of automobiles, aerospace, designing, etc. It currently has 9 different teams under it, which design and manufacture automobiles & aeroplanes to participate in various SAE International Competitions & other National Competitions. The students have been regularly bringing accolades to the department by winning awards in competitions of International and National repute.

ISME

ISME (Indian Society of Manufacturing Engineers)

 

ISME is a professional society registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 of Maharashtra state. The main objective of ISME is to advance knowledge in the field of Manufacturing Engineering and Management and provide means and methods for applying such knowledge in practice and in education throughout the country.  It provides a channel of communication for allied societies and institutions in the country and abroad. ISME has a countrywide network comprising of industries, institutions, and individual members under various categories. It has to its credit an eventful professional standing of around three decades. ISME organises a number of national seminars, training programmes, workshops, industrial visits and technical film shows. Technical lecture meetings on topics of interest are being held on a regular basis. ISME also brings out its own in-house publication with a view to disseminate technical information and maintain adequate communication and rapport with its members. 

 

Purpose 

 

DJ-ISME is one of the oldest and most successful student chapters of D. J. Sanghvi college of engineering. The chapter has proven its success and worth by consecutively winning the award for the Best Student Chapter of D. J. Sanghvi in the years 2017 and 2018. DJ-ISME conducts events, workshops, seminars, guest lectures, and industrial visits for the students of the Mechanical and Production department. ISME also exercises the National initiative of Make in India by conducting the Project Competition under its annual Technical Festival – DJ NIRMITI. The main aim of all the activities under ISME is to give the students an opportunity to connect to the industry and develop their technical background.

RAS

 

Robotics and Automation Society (RAS)

 

 

Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) is an inter-departmental society under Mechanical Engineering of Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering. It’s a student chapter that aims to develop students in the field of Robotics and Automation. The chapter strives to achieve its objective by providing practical knowledge on robotics and automation to all the students interested in this field. The chapter does that by handing over various robotics and automation projects to a group of students, organising various robotics workshops, organising industrial visits, and by participating in various national and international technical competitions.

 

Over the past couple of years, the RAS chapter has been handling quite a few numbers of projects such as SCARA Robot, library RFID, Joystick applications, etc., and has participated in international technical competitions such as ABU Robocon.

 

Students from Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Information Technology are a part of this chapter. RAS has grown immensely over the past couple of years in terms of developing practical knowledge in the students of DJSCE.

ISHRAE

ISHRAE (The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers)

 

ISHRAE was founded in 1981 in New Delhi by a group of eminent HVAC&R professionals. ISHRAE today has over 17,645 HVAC&R professionals as members and additionally, there are 10,695 student- members. ISHRAE operates from 42 chapters and sub-chapters spread all over India, with Head Quarters in Delhi. ISHRAE student chapters, present in more than 150 engineering collages, encourage students to opt for careers in the HVAC&R industry. ISHRAE organizes ACREX INDIA, the largest international exposition in south Asia on Air-conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and building. ISHRAE publication strives to help its members & the industry to be up-to-date with the technical developments, latest trends, and sunrise technologies.

ISHRAE Objectives: -

  • Encouragement of scientific research
  • Continuing education of members and other interested persons in the said science through lectures, workshops, product presentations, publications, and expositions.

Purpose

DJ-ISHRAE is a national-level student chapter of D. J. Sanghvi college of engineering. Its aim is to support and promote interest in HVAC&R system. It has been the winner and runner-up in 2017 & 18 respectively in ISTL (Indian Student Technical League) a national level HVAC&R competition where students had to design a HVAC system for a given plant. The chapter additionally provides career opportunities in HVAC&R to interested students through ‘job junction’ organised by the ISHRAE national chapter. The chapter organises various seminars and workshops on refrigeration and air-conditioning, solar energy, eco-friendly systems, and HVAC. It also organises industrial visits to industries manufacturing HVAC components like copper tubes, solar panels, etc.

Academic reports present an overview of the various activities and events that were organised during the academic year. It provides a summary of the workshops, seminars, value-added programs, and industrial visits that were organised by the department and the four student chapters i.e. SAE, ISHRAE, ISME, and RAS. The report also includes student achievements in national as well as international competitions. Placement statistics, as well as student performance in end-semester examinations, are also presented in the report. Details of research activities by faculty members, their participation in faculty development programs/training activities are also included.
