Department of Electronics Engineering


The Department of ‘Electronics Engineering’ was established in June 1994 right at the inception of the college. It has a sanctioned intake capacity of 60(FY) + 6(direct SY) students. This program is accredited by National Board of Accreditation with effect from the Academic Year 2012-13. The department has well established, highly motivated and technically competent staff. To-date all the members of the department are post-graduates in engineering from highly reputed institutes. Each member is actively pursuing his/her development/research in their chosen area. This has helped create a strong academic fervour motivating the students towards technical excellence.


The department has also been progressive in creating courses under autonomy, which cater to the current requirements of industry in terms of placement or towards higher studies. The department  has introduced subjects like, Python Programming, Data Structures, Image Processing (Computer Vision) and Database Management to cater towards frontend & backend of computer science domain and at the same time maintaining core competency in the areas of Power Electronics, Analog & Digital Communications, Embedded Systems and VLSI Design. The department has also made sure that areas of Data Analytics, Machine Learning & AI along-with IoT and Robotics are all retained as part of the course syllabus itself to broaden the scope of learning. The department & college in partnership with IBM have also designed optional courses for Data Analytics, Machine Learning & IIoT, for certification in association with IBM.

The IEEE student chapter of the department is responsible for co-ordinating & conducting various workshops and other activities at the department, which include expert lectures, seminars, workshops and industry visits and mentoring sessions by alumni. These all are the initiatives by the department to ensure a holistic learning experience in the 4 years of engineering at DJSCE.

Program Education Objectives (PEOs)


1)    To  lay a strong foundation  in  mathematical, applied sciences  and  engineering  fundamentals  for  problem solving  and to enhance the capability for higher studies.

2)    To  train  students  with  good  scientific  and  engineering  expanse  so  as  to comprehend, analyze and design for systemic solutions and instill receptiveness for life-long learning.

3)    To inculcate in students a multidisciplinary approach to relate engineering issues for broader social context.

4)    To provide students with leadership & teamwork skills, professional & ethical outlook with effective communication methodology for a successful professional career.

5)    To associate with industry for achieving a blend of industry and academia for reciprocative knowledge enhancement.


Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)


1)    To equip students to build, analyse & troubleshoot electronic circuits on hardware and in simulation environment.

2)    To ensure that students can analyze, design & implement various subsystems with competence in transform methods, statistics & probability for system realisation.

3)    To motivate & encourage students to pursue core electronics engineering projects with an inter-disciplinary approach & report quality development/research work in publishing domain.


Program Outcomes (POs)


       Engineering Graduates will be able to:


1)  Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

2) Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

3) Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

4) Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

5) Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

6) The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

7) Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

8) Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

9) Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

10) Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

11) Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

12) Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

Resources and facilities 

Department of Electronics Engineering is spread over third floor of D. J. Sanghvi COE. The department has three spacious, air-conditioned class-rooms along-with ten very well equipped laboratories for conduct of sessions in a learner conducive environment. All class rooms are multi-media enabled catering to conventional teaching methods as well as equipped with overhead projection screen, LCD projector and desktop computer.  The acoustically designed class rooms are spacious and have ergonomically designed benches with enough seating capacity.

The laboratories are equipped with conventional as well as special equipment and apparatus which help in grooming and developing student's mind for obtaining practical solutions to a given problem. The department focuses on student development through projects and hence motivate students to involve in project development activity right from their second year of engineering. With this as view, the department has innovatively developed and implemented PCB making technique and trains students adequately on the relevant software tools for the same.

All labs are equipped with state of the art infrastructure.

  1.          Each Lab comprises of state of the art computing facility with seamless internet and intranet connectivity provided using wired and wire-less network.
  2.          Each Lab is WiFi enabled for resource on demand and access to resources on Blackboard Software
