DJSCE - Computer Society of India Chapter

Formed in 1965, the CSI has been instrumental in guiding the Indian IT industry down the right path since its formative years. Today, the CSI has 71 chapters all over India, 418 student branches, and more than 90000 members including India's most famous IT industry leaders, brilliant scientists and dedicated academicians.

 

At D. J. Sanghvi College of Engineering, the students of IT department have formed their own student’s chapter ‘DJSCE-CSI’ for overall development of students. The mission of the DJSCE-CSI chapter is to facilitate research, knowledge sharing, learning and career enhancement for all categories of IT professionals, while simultaneously inspiring and nurturing students and helping them to integrate into the IT community. 2011-12

Motion Photography Workshop

Stop-motion animation is one of the most fun animation techniques. You can use just about anything in your stop-motion animation, and thanks to digital cameras and computers, creating one is now super easy. There are many ways to go about shooting, editing and finalizing a stop-motion short. They were taught software like Picassa and Illustrator.

 

Blenders 3D Animation Workshop

Blender is the free open source 3D content creation suite. Through the workshops students were able to discover the wide toolset available in Blender, defining a complete pipeline (from modeling to sequence editing) controlled by a flexible and consistent user interface.

 

Seminar on “career opportunities after engineering”

The seminar was conducted by a company named COLLEGEPOND. The aim of this seminar was to clear any doubts in the minds of the students regarding different career options after passing out of engineering. It was an interactive Q&A session where many doubts of the students were solved and they were made aware of various career options after graduations.

 

2012-13

Seminar by KiC education

The committee started off with its work in the month of January itself, with a seminar conducted by the KiC education, a leading institution which coaches students to ace their GRE/GMAT/CAT. The seminar gave a brief but informative session which helped the students choose between MS and MBA.

 

Industrial Visit to ABB Industries

An Industrial Visit to ABB Industries, Nasik was organized on the 21st of January. ABB is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve performance while lowering environmental impact. The trip was a very information experience and a great learning opportunity.

 

Finance seminar by “GettingYouRich”

The seminar was to widen our financial and entrepreneurship skills. Since students will be making a transition as professionals in the corporate world, a brief introduction as to how to handle our financial assets and to generate a profitable personal budget was explained in detail.

 

Seminar on “Sixth Sense Technologies”

An introductory seminar on Sixth Sense Technologies was conducted, which gave a brief introduction of Matlab Programming, Gesture Recognition, Image Processing, Efficient Techniques to control your computer as also showed some demo about the same.

 

Awareness seminar on “Security Day”

The goal was to spread awareness among students about various viruses, malwares and Trojans which may harm our systems. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Milin Nitin Shah, owner of Ace Aspire Technologies, who taught the students about Data Recovery, Phishing, Google Hacking, SQL injection and a lot more.

 

Google GDG DevFest

This workshop was a two day workshop held on the 9th and 10th of March, was conducted by Google professionals; Google Developer Group Mumbai. GDG Mumbai is an open and non-profit developers group that aims to learn, share and know more about Google technologies. They trained the students who had come from various colleges from all over the city. The workshop, which was conducted on the eve of International Women’s Day, not only gave detailed knowledge about Python Coding, Android App Making and a brief insight on Google App Development but also encouraged the progress of women in Coding. This highly successful workshop was covered by the Asian Age and also found its place in various technical websites.

 

Magazine “PROTOCOL”

The CSI Student chapter also published the 6th volume of its Magazine, “PROTOCOL”, which informed the readers about the upcoming gadgets and technological advancements.

 

2013-14

Pre Placement Training

In the month of July, CSI organized a 32 hour extensive placement training session, which was conducted by “Final Desk”. The session covered important topics like Data Structures and Algorithms, C/C++, Operating Systems and Database Systems. These are essential topics with respect to placements in any company. At the end of the session a mock aptitude test was taken, which was similar to the aptitude tests conducted by many companies during the placement process.

 

Google Development Workshop

CSI conducted the Google DevFest on 7th and 8th September, 2013. It was a great opportunity to learn more about Google technologies and developer products. Topics covered during this workshop were Google App Engine, Web Services, Python, PHP HOL, Android App Development, and PhoneGap App

 

Android Application Development

CSI conducted android app development workshop on 26th and 27th September, 2013. This event taught students to develop a number of Android Applications. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Sanket Khanwalkar.

 

Android Lecture Series

This session had a total of 10 lectures spanning over 2 weeks. Lecture series commenced on Sept 19, 2013. Subsequent Android lectures were aimed at building an App (hands-on).

 

Unity 3D

CSI presented Unity 3D workshop on 3rd and 5th October, 2013. Unity is basically used to develop games for web sites, desktops, and mobile devices. The students developed a “Tank Wars” game for their Virtual Reality Subject during the third year.

 

Coding Competition: CodeMania

To flex the coding muscles of students, CSI presented its first ever inter college Coding Contest, “CodeMania” on 30th January, 2014. All second and third year students from various colleges participated and won certificates and exciting cash prizes. Top performing teams competed in our college premises for the final round on 6th February, 2014.

 

Seminar by Career Launcher

CSI conducted a seminar by Career Launcher who taught students various tips and tricks to crack GRE and CAT competitive examinations. Students who attended the seminar learned various techniques to solve questions in an efficient and effective manner. The seminar was followed by an Aptitude test which helped the students recognize their strong and weak points. 

 

Security Day

CSI held Security Day on 27th and 28th March, 2014. The aim of this event was to increase awareness on scams and cyber warfare. Important features of this event included Net Banking Frauds, Facebook Harassment Scam, Live Demo on Password Hacking using Wireshark, Cracking Windows using Metasploit, Website Server Hacking were conducted. On day 2, Kaspersky Labs came to our college and talked about their Hardware and Software based Firewalls.
